Dear Parents or Guardians of Grades 2-5 Students:
The report card is one tool a teacher uses to communicate
with parents. The report card was designed to provide you a detailed
account of your child's level of performance for the trimester in
relation to grade-level standards. Standards that have been identified
as most critical for the grade level are stated on the report card.
Teachers indicate your child's progress toward these specific standards
with the following marks: + for consistent, / for inconsistent, and
- for area needing improvement.
The overall achievement grade summarizes your child's
performance on these critical standards as well as other grade-level
standards required by the state of California. Teachers use a numeric
scale of
1-5 to indicate the overall achievement based on the trimester expectations.
The goal for each student is to reach proficient or advanced performance.
